Katarzyna Ligwinska, or Kasia as she’s known around the Tstreet gym, has been with the club for over 10 years now. She now assists the 14-1s, and is a member of the staff of the Open champions at the 2017 and 2019 USAV Girls National Championship.
Kasia’s volleyball career began in 1992 in her hometown of Lodz in Poland. She played for junior clubs and on the Polish National Team. Throughout the years she has played professionally indoor with teams in: SKS Lodz, Calisia Kalisz (Poland), C.V. Sant Cugat, Barcelona and C. V. Valencia (Spain), Grot Budowlani Lodz and AZS Czestochowa (Poland), Volleyball Santa Croce – Florence (Italy), and Calcit Ljubljana (Slovenia).
After receiving a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Lodz Polytechnic University in Poland, Kasia moved to Spain to continue her education and play volleyball for the Sant Cugat Volleyball Club and University of Barcelona. Following 3 years of studying, working, and playing volleyball in Spain, she returned to Poland to complete a Masters Degree of Organization and Management also from Lodz Polytechnic University. Kasia truly enjoys learning and through travel, experience and study, and she is now fluent in 5 languages.
Kasia started coaching volleyball at the junior high level in Lodz, Poland for the club team Start Lodz. While she was living in Spain, she also coached at the junior level for Club Volleyball Sant Cugat. After moving to California and while playing beach in AVP and CBVA tournaments, Kasia was the Varsity Head Coach for Pacifica Christian High School in Santa Monica. That year C.P.H.S. made it to the C.I.F. Girls Volleyball Division II. Regional Quarter Finals, which was a huge success for this small school. In 2012, I was coaching Crean Lutheran High School for 2 years and Laguna Beach High School for 1 year as a Head Coach of JV Team and Assistant Varsity. Undefeated during all those years. Fun facts about Coach Kasia: Actual name is KATARZYNA AGNIESZKA LIGWINSKA. My family is actually the one and only family in the whole world with this last name. Kasia speaks fluent in 5 languages. Her twin daughters, Luna & Silver began their adventure with volleyball this year on 12’s Team – Curtis.
