Tstreet Elite Beach Volleyball Head Coach
Tstreet Volleyball Club Founder
Troy Tanner was the head coach of Misty May/Treanor and Kerri Walsh/Jennings during their 76–1 FIVB run that culminated in an Olympic gold medal. Misty writes about Tanner’s attention to detail and emphasis on mechanics in her book, Misty, Digging Deep in Volleyball and Life. Kerri as well, often shares her love and gratitude for Troy. She mentions his “Breathe, Believe, Battle” mantra, and how it became a common mantra for the Olympic duo during their mind-boggling, international run. It has also become a personal, lifelong mantra for Kerri.
Troy was a three-time NCAA All-American and won two NCAA National Championships. He won an Olympic gold medal with the USA men’s team in 1988 and then played professionally overseas and on the FIVB and AVP tours for over a decade. A few of his individual beach honors include:
Best Defensive Player, Rookie of the Year
Comeback Player of the Year, Ron Von Hagen Award
He was hired by the Turkish National Volleyball Federation from 2008 – 2012 to begin their beach volleyball program and quickly developed teams that qualified and consistently competed on the FIVB tour.
